In planning South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR), the Province of British Columbia took significant steps to not only avoid impacts to the protected Burns Bog Ecological Conservancy Area, but also to help address historical issues and create a physical buffer between the bog and industrial areas.

Fraser Transportation Group (FTG) shares the Province’s commitment to the Burns Bog Ecological Conservancy Area management plan. We have established a comprehensive monitoring program to ensure mitigation measures in the vicinity of Burns Bog are effective over the long term.

Fraser Transportation Group (FTG) is an internationally led company that has combined the strength, innovation, and experience of local and international construction firms. FTG was selected to deliver the construction phase of the South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR) project on Highway 17. FTG includes ACS Infrastructure Canada Inc. and Ledcor Industrial/Mining Group Ltd. as equity partners, and Dragados Canada Inc., Ledcor CMI Ltd., Belpacific Excavating and Shoring Limited Partnership, and Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. as the members of the design-build contractor.

Yes. Cyclists are permitted to ride on the shoulders of Highway 17 (South Fraser Perimeter Road). The road design incorporates connections to the local municipal cycling network.

Fraser Transportation Group (FTG) is committed to ensuring that the design, construction and operation of Highway 17 (South Fraser Perimeter Road) avoids or minimizes environmental impacts. As part of the Environmental Assessment process, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure produced a Table of Commitments and Assurances (TOCA), which includes 144 commitments. This table was developed to assure stakeholders that key environmental issues would be addressed and managed by the Ministry.

Compliance with the Table of Commitments and Assurances is regularly assessed and reported on by the Ministry to the Environmental Assessment Office. The Ministry will continue to ensure that environmental commitments and assurances are being met by contractors working on Highway 17 (South Fraser Perimeter Road).
